Dear ECB Hockey members,
I trust you are all managing through these Level changes and looking forward to hitting the ball around on the turf.
Initial level 2 Government announcements indicated that we would be able to commence playing hockey, however the subsequent clarification restricting group numbers clearly placed this in doubt. We are all hoping that a scheduled announcement from the Government on Monday will be in our favour for playing hockey and clarify any requirements the club needs to adhere to.
Last night was the Council of Clubs meeting and Harbour Hockey is developing plans for when we finally do get the go ahead. At this stage they are planning for training to commence after Queen’s birthday, with the season running through to October, providing a 17 week competition. Obviously this will include hygiene measures to ensure the safety of all members under COVID-19 requirements.
When this information becomes available next week we will communicate information with you about what the season may look, including how fees may be impacted. Harbour Hockey currently has this under consideration to ensure a unified approach across all clubs. Unfortunately until this information is received from Harbour Hockey, the club is unable to advise what changes to fees may look like, however rest assured any savings from the reduced season will be passed on to members.
Stay safe and we will keep you informed as the return to hockey evolves.
