Summer Youth Hockey Year 7-10

Youth Hockey is designed for Year 7-10 players who have basic skills and understanding of the game and are wanting to improve and develop. It is 11 aside hockey enabling Year 7 and Year 8 players to learn positioning before they play at Secondary School.

The season in 2025 begins on 6th October with the last game on 8th December. It is played after school on Mondays. The teams are coached and mentored on the field by our great coaches. In 2024 our coaches were P1 players with a real interest in youth coaching and development. Even though this is a competition our emphasis is not about winning but developing each players skill, understanding and confidence.

Youth Hockey is also a ‘pathway’ for our club to build a relationship for those players who are wanting to step up and play club hockey.

All abilities are welcome from beginners to experienced. To accommodate this the competition has three grades; A, B and C.  Our fees are $130 for the season, including a training session. Payment is due before the first game. ECB Hockey Club 12-3107-0065182-01.

Once the season begins and a position is accepted there will be no refunds if your player cannot play. We pay NHHA a fee for each team and they do not refund us if a player pulls out. Our training session will be this year will be on Sunday 21st September. More to come on this.

We are normally oversubscribed so registrations may close off earlier if our teams are full. Registrations are planned to close on Sunday 14th September at 8pm. East Coast Bays provides the club shirt. The players will need to provide black shorts and black socks.

If you would like to play this in 2025 please register here.

Year 11-13 9 Aside

For those of you who are wondering what next for summer hockey once you are in Year 11-13, East Coast Bays has 9 Aside hockey for you.  Below is the link to an ‘expressions of interest’ form, and if we get enough interested players we will get some teams together.
Some points to note:
  1. 9 Aside is played on a Thursday at North Harbour from 6-9pm on a full turf.  The games are 30 minutes in duration.
  2. Fees are $950 per team for 14 games.  This is just divided up among the players in your team.  These fees will be paid before the season begins as we need to pay North Harbour then.
  3. The season starts on 9 October and runs through until early February.  This is different to summer youth.  You will need to be prepared to play 4 games following the Christmas break.
  4. The teams can be mixed. Mixed teams have a maximum of 5 males on the field at any one time.
  5. Goalkeepers are advisable so please register!
